Super 14 Rugby kicks off this week. Western Force
is the first Aussie team in action when they host
the Otago Highlanders on Friday night. The Force have
done a lot of recruiting over the off-season and this
will be a big test for the new look team.
The
Waratahs will start their season with a three match
South African road trip. First up they will take on
the newly named Lions.
On
Saturday the Waikato Chiefs will host the Brumbies
in Hamilton. The Chiefs are highly rated this season
and will start as favourites this weekend.
The
Reds will travel to Wellington to take on the Hurricanes
and with a lack of depth in the squad they will start
as the underdogs.
Cricket
For the English cricket team the upcoming match at
the SCG against Australia is a must win if they are
to stay in the Tri Series. A win could prove hard
to come by as they are struggling to find any form
or resistance. The Aussie fans will hope that Captain
Ricky Ponting will win this toss, if only to be able
to see the Aussie batsmen in full flight.
Soccer
In the second leg of the A-League finals Sydney FC
will travel to Newcastle to play the Jets. After losing
2-1 in the first leg the pressure is now on the Jets
to win and keep Sydney scoreless. Sydney have the
upper hand this season beating Newcastle twice and
drawing twice.
In the other finals match to be played Adelaide United
and Melbourne Victory will play their return leg in
Melbourne. After a nil all draw in the first match
the tie is wide open though Melbourne will head into
the match as the favourite.
NFL
Superbowl XLI will be played between the Indianapolis
Colts and the Chicago Bears. Both these team raced
away at the beginning of the season winning nine matches
and seven matches in a row respectively. The Colts
have one of the best attacks in the NFL while the
Bears have one of the best defences so this will be
an epic encounter.

The Western Force were the only Australian team to
lose last week. The game against the Highlanders was
there for the taking but mistakes cost them the match.
This week they are in South Africa to take on the
Stormers. The Waratahs will play the Sharks this week
for what could be their most difficult game on tour
- Waratahs will start as the underdog. After a first
up win the Reds will now play the reigning champions
the Crusaders. This will be a tough challenge for
the young Reds team. The Brumbies will host the Blues
this week and with both teams in great form it will
be hard to pick the winner.
Cricket
After looking ordinary for most of the summer, the
English team have strung two very good wins together.
After beating New Zealand during the week they have
made the Tri Series finals and have a chance to regain
some pride that was lost during the Ashes. Australia
has been the form team this summer though England
has shown that the Aussies can fail to chase a big
total.
Soccer
After beating Sydney FC at home last week, the Newcastle
Jets now head to Adelaide to play for a place in the
grand final against Melbourne. Adelaide United had
a sniff of beating Melbourne though a great last minute
goal by Jason Robinson lost them the game. Newcastle
looked very impressive at home and will need to be
able to replicate that form on the road to reach the
final.
Rugby
Union
In Super 14 Rugby this weekend the Reds will take
on the Brumbies at Suncorp Stadium. The Reds have
had a mixed start to the season - having already won
at home this game will bring the fans back for more.
Despite having been scoring points which will have
built good momentum, going into this weekend's match
the Brumbies will start as favourites. Over in South
Africa the Western Force will play the Bulls in Pretoria
while the Waratahs will play the Cheetahs in Kimberly.
Cricket
The Australian Cricket team head to New Zealand for
the annual Chappell-Hadlee Trophy Series minus captain
Ricky Ponting and vice-captain Adam Gilchrist. Ponting
has been one of the Aussie's form players of the summer
and his loss will be felt. Michael Hussey will captain
the side on tour. The Kiwis will sense that there
is a big chance for an upset as the Aussies attempt
to rebuild the momentum heading into the World Cup.
Soccer
The A-League final will be played between minor premiers
Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United. In the qualifying
final series it was a tight affair with the Victory
scoring a very late goal to win 2-1 on aggregate.
Melbourne have been the form team this season scoring
41 goals in the regular season. If they click this
weekend Adelaide will be in for a long afternoon.

In this weeks Super 14 Rugby action there are three
Aussie teams on show. First up, the Hurricanes will
host the Brumbies in Wellington. In Auckland the Blues
will host the Reds. Over in Perth, the Force will
host the Lions, who beat the Crusaders last week.
In
Europe, the third round of the Six Nations will be
played this weekend. The pick of the round will be
the clash between Ireland and England to be played
in Ireland.
Soccer
Tottenham Hotspurs will host Bolton in the EPL this
weekend. Bolton are having a great season and are
within striking distance of the top four. The Hotspurs
have slipped though are still capable of causing an
upset at home. Middlesbrough will also be in action
when they host Reading. Reading are another team that
are having a great season, though away from home will
start as the underdogs.
Entertainment
On Sunday night one of the biggest nights in show
business will be on, with the running of the 79th
Academy Awards. Check out all the markets offered
by Sportingbet!
