The Far East has the biggest betting tradition in the world. Although it is illegal in many places, its played in a great many variations.
Betting is popular throughout Asia, from Indonesia to Vietnam. However it is China that is the greatest competitor in the betting marketplace.
700 B.C. is the earliest it is believed that some types of gambling were being conducted, with cave dwelling people playing with ivory tablets. Playing cards, common in a lot gambling games nowadays, are thought to have got their start in China in about 1200 A.D., although the finer details of their history appear to have been lost. Wagering, gambling, beting, whatever you want to call it, has been played across Asia since before Christ was born. Now that's just incredible!
Gambling was seen as a type of amusement in ancient China. Its thought that wagering on the results of games started around the periods of Xia (2000 -1500 B.C.) and Shang (1700 -1027 B.C.), the royal dynasties at that time. The dynasties were at the forefront in wagering games, and it was this that made the experience popular throughout the Asian countries. Addiction is a big problem linked with gambling and it is considered that the first social issues began to surface around the time of the royal families in China.
Betting was becoming more popular across the Chinese nation and beyond, and it is thought that that some individuals ended up using gambling as a way to earn money, rather than finding stable work. Betting began to become a issue for the Imperial houses when authorities started to consider taxing betting and started to do dodgy deals with corrupt triad gangs, to divert funds away from government coffers. Modern casinos begun to crop up through the late 19th century, but with the birth of the People's Republic of China in 1949 gambling was made illegal.
The growth of the mobile field across Asia has resulted in the introduction of online gambling houses such as M88 Indonesia which are now rapidly growing. China has a past of believing in fortune and chance and so it's easy to see why betting is so well liked by the Chinese people. This is the same in other Asian countries, including Indonesia and Thailand.
